Former Boxing Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier seriously ill with liver cancer

Philadelphia - Former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier has been diagnosed 4 weeks ago with liver cancer and is now battling the disease which is in its final stages.  


Promoter Don King who staged the "Thrilla in Manila" on Oct. 1, 1975 planned to honor him in the Jones - Marrone title match this Sunday upon learning of Frazier's grave condition.  


Frazier beat Muhammad Ali in what was dubbed as the "Fight of the Century" in 1971 at Madison Square Garden.  He retired with a record 32-4-1.
